TIFFANY TENILLE
ALBION ROSE

Production grant.
Funds will be used for 5.1 surround mixing.

About the project: ALBION ROSE, directed by first-time filmmaker Tiffany Tenille, is a coming-of-age drama with hints of magical realism and dark fairytale elements that paint a delicate, yet emotionally charged portrait of a fanciful young woman hopelessly cradling the unrequited enchantment of her girlhood, whilst struggling to face the harsh reality that her big sister has outgrown her. Told through the whimsy prism of beauty and grace, ALBION ROSE sheds a raw, yet rose-tinted lens on the aftershocks of untreated trauma.

About the filmmaker: A hopeless romantic at heart, Tiffany Tenille is an actress, writer and first-time filmmaker that delights in seemingly idyllic worlds with an undercurrent of darkness. Her work often reflects the redemptive coming of age journey of young women on the cusp of mental collapse, explored in her latest project, ALBION ROSE. A feature screenplay recently workshopped in the Director’s Co//Lab at Sundance and a short film adaptation slated to premiere in the 2022 festival circuit. Originally from Chicago, Tenille holds her BFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. Jezebel, her feature film debut in the title role was acquired by Ava DuVernay's distribution arm, ARRAY following high acclaim at SXSW and is currently streaming on Netflix. As a theatre artist, Tenille was last seen in the West Coast premiere of Jazz based on the book by Toni Morrison and will next appear in a National Google commercial directed by Little Miss Sunshine’s directing duo Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton. As the proud founder of her newly minted production banner PETTICOAT, Tenille is fiercely committed to illuminating the complexities of womanhood, and celebrating the delicacy of Black women.
