The Reworks: Belly is the first of a 5-part video series of reworked scenes from iconic Black films. Belly is the first installation of the series with the off-screen opening monologue of Hype Williams' 1998 cult classic.

Tannis Spencer is a writer and director based in Harlem, New York. Since beginning her career she has written, directed, and produced three short films. Her films - Two and Curtis have been admitted into several festivals nationwide including The Nitehawk Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY. Curtis was selected and featured in The Future of Filmmaking Is Female series at The Modern Museum of Art and streamed on The SundanceNow platform as part of the Best of Nitehawk Short series.

She is a digital-first native that sees and thinks big-picture storytelling and strategy. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from The American University in 2012.
