Karina Adriana Dandashi is a Syrian-American writer and director living in Brooklyn, NY. She is passionate about women-driven stories that explore identity through the intersection of family, religion, and culture in Arab and Muslim communities. SHORT SHORTS is her debut short film and has been accepted to numerous festivals, winning the Audience Award at the Central Florida Film Slam which qualified it for the 2021 Florida Film Festival. Her second short film, BARZAKH, is about a disco-clubbing refugee stuck at a checkpoint and recently wrapped post. She is the Spring 2020 Silver Sun Diverse Voices Filmmaker Fellow at the Jacob Burns Film Center, where her third short film is set to go into production in the fall.
