About the project: A lonely vampire braves the outside world when her teenage neighbor begins to exhibit suspicious, yet familiar, symptoms. THICKER THAN WEATER is a slice of life short film with a horror twist. Inspired by the quote “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb,” the film explores themes of chosen family in Queer communities. Elizabeth, the protagonist, lives in isolation fearing that the monster she is makes her unlovable. When she starts to recognize that her young neighbor may be going through something similar, she takes a risk to show him that he isn’t alone. Through this film, the director is exploring her experience navigating her little brother coming out as trans years after her own transition.
