VERONICA KEDAR
THIN
Receiving pre-production funding from The Future of Film is Female
(July 2019)
About the film: All Sylvia wants for her 30th birthday is to belong. Her parents adore her and her sisters want the best for her but in a world that judges you by your appearance, it’s harder for some to fit in. Especially when you're a small woman in a big big world.
The funds will be used for the production stage to cover the equipment.
About the filmmaker: Veronica Kedar is an award winning filmmaker from Tel Aviv. Her graduation film Tail won the Original Director Award at the 2010 Intl. Student Film Festival in Israel and a special screenwriting grant from Lars Von Trier's Zentropa at the Up & Coming Film Festival in Germany, 2010.
Her first feature Joe + Belle was nominated for BEST PICTURE at the 2012 Israeli Academy Awards. That year she received an Excellence Award from the Israeli Ministry of Culture for her contribution to Independent Cinema in Israel. Veronica's recent film Family is an Israel-Germany co-production. Family premiered at the Jerusalem Film Festival 2017 and won the Best Score Award. The film was nominated for three Israeli Academy Awards, won “Best Feature” at the 2018 Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, screened at MoMA as part of the Future of Film is Female series, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime in the U.S.
