About the filmmaker: Elizabeth Rao is a writer and director based in New York. Rao is passionate about exploring urgent social issues through intimate personal stories, and launching images of Asian Americana from a feminist perspective.
Rao grew up in Missouri, Tennessee and Chicago, with immigrant parents from southern China. Rao's body of work in independent filmmaking bridges cultures and communities, and has premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Berlinale, Tribeca, Hong Kong International Film Festival, MoMA and more. Rao is currently writing her debut feature film.
